Community Alliance Trust gets funding to help people save money and their environment

We have been awarded funding from the Scottish Government’s Climate Challenge Fund to help people be more energy efficient and reduce carbon emissions by reducing food waste, and promoting local growing and eco-transport.

The Community Alliance Trust gained £184,190 from the Climate Challenge Fund to set up and run The Green House, which will recruit and train local volunteers to be energy advisors and energy champions for their local area. There will be an advice shop opening on the High Street this summer where people can drop in for advice coffee mornings and events, and can book home advice visits with trained advisors.

The Green House staff also aim to work with local schools and community groups in the Greater Craigmillar area, offering advice, activities and courses over the next year until March 2012.
